Chicago Public Libraries celebrate Trombone Shorty

The Chicago Public Library celebrated Summer Learning Day with 80 events, one in each library across the city, each featuring a reading of Trombone Shorty’s first children’s book Trombone Shorty

Illustrator Bryan Collier who worked with Shorty on both Trombone Shorty and The 5’O Clock Band attended the event at the Harold Washington Library where he personally read the book to over 350 kids.

Each child received a signed copy of the book and participated was able to participate in a series of activities centered around the theme and moral of the book.

Trombone Shorty was also featured in the National Summer Learning Association’s digital billboards which appeared in 28 cities across the U.S., including New York, Chicago, and San Francisco.
