Trombone Shorty's For True has been voted to the top of Australia's Rhythms magazine Best of 2011 Readers Poll (February 2012 issue) for Jazz Album of the Year - International. Trombone Shorty also won top honors in the Gig of the Year - International category for his 2011 performance at Australia's Byron Bay Bluesfest. Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue return to Australia for 5 dates (including 2 at Bluesfest) in April.
For True has ranked in the Contemporary Jazz Top 10 since it's September release, with 12 weeks at #1 so far. In a related win, HBO's Treme won for Best Soundtrack (International) - it includes "Ooh Poo Pah Doo" performed by Trombone Shorty (the song was originally a hit for his grandfather, Jessie Hill, when it was first released in 1960). Congratulations to all the winners!
