Just thirty short days from today, the Fourth Annual Treme Threauxdown will take place at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans, LA.
The New Orleans Advocate said “The Treme Threauxdown has become a Jazz Fest season tradition. In years past, Jazz Fest performers ranging from Usher to Nick Jonas to Amos Lee have made surprise appearances with Shorty at the Saenger.” Other guests through the years have included Ledisi, Cee Lo Green, Warren Haynes, Juvenile, Wyclef Jean, Andra Day, Marc Broussard, Mystikal, and Chad Smith, as well as Shorty’s friends and mentors from New Orleans including Allen Toussaint, Jon Batiste, Kermit Ruffins, Terence Blanchard, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, PJ Morton and Ivan Neville.
Though the show dazzles with guests, the music is really where it’s at. “My favorite thing about the Threauxdown is figuring out what special guests we are going to have and the genre of music they come from. It’s the most important thing,” says Shorty. “We’ve got country musicians, we’ve got R&B and the music and their songs are what the band and I are thinking about. Because every guest is so strong in whatever genre of music they come from, we have to play that as authentically as we can.”
This year, Soul Rebels will play before Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue hit the stage to play their songs and then be joined by an array of guests that will have everyone talking about the show and wondering who will be guests next year–2019 will mark the show’s 5th anniversary.
